Quiet Cove Excursions is your best choice for the perfect Alaskan fishing adventure! Located near the town of Thorne Bay, Alaska, on Prince of Wales Island--west of Ketchikan in the Southeastern Panhandle, we offer visitors a range of options, from a simple day’s professional charter to a fully equipped rental house with everything needed for the ultimate independent fishing trip!

 For those with lodgings elsewhere, we offer a professionally guided saltwater charter on the KRISTINA J, and/or a professionally guided freshwater fishing experience in local streams and rivers.

New for the spring of 2010 will be our fully equipped self-service lodging and fishing option for the independent fishing experience. We offer a 1,400 square foot, two-story, two-bedroom home with access to everything needed (and we mean everything!) Sleeping 6 people comfortably, it includes a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, freezers, ice machine, and even a vacuum packer.

The house rental includes two 16-foot 2010 Crestliner fishing boats with 40 hp Mercury four-stroke, electric-start outboard engines with steering consoles, fish finders, down riggers, fishing poles, crab pots...everything needed to be able to start your fishing experience upon arrival. The home, with a private 40x 60-foot dock, is located across from the town of Thorne Bay, and access is by water or by airplane only.

Thorne Bay has a variety of services available including grocery store, liquor store, post office, gas stations & marina. The only things not included are fishing licenses, boat gas, bait & food, but all of those are readily available right there in Thorne Bay. If cooking is not your thing, there is an option for catered dinners by the owners, Krissy and Red, who live nearby. The rates are comparable to other self-serve lodging in the area. A four-wheel drive jeep is also available for rent.

              Experienced fishermen as well as newcomers can learn a great deal by spending a day with someone who knows the area, fishes the local waters regularly and works with other local captains to keep abreast of where the hot spots are. We offer just such an experience in our full day fishing charters. While many of our clients enjoy the self-guided experience for the majority of their stay in Alaska, most find it valuable to start off with a day or two on a professionally guided charter aboard the KRISTINA J before heading out on their own in the skiffs provided with the lodging.
